Mrs. Vickers - EC Resource Teacher
Hello! My name is Michelle Vickers, I am very excited to work at Central Elementary School with such wonderful students, parents and staff. I am one of two Special Education Teachers working with grades K-5 with students in and out of the general education classroom. This is my 3rd year at Central Elementary. Prior to Central Elementary, I taught for 12 years at Millingport Elementary.
A little about me. I am married with one son, who is in the 6th grade this year. My hobbies are horseback riding, camping, and vacationing in the mountains. I have horses, 2 Golden Retrievers, and a cat. This is a second career for me. Prior to teaching, I worked as a social worker in child welfare, adult services, and maturity. I have an extensive background working with families in the home and bring that experience with me to the classroom. I see each child as an individual with different needs. I feel my job is to learn about each student, help them feel comfortable, and work toward helping them meet their greatest potential. I received my BA in Sociology from UNCW, BSW from UNCC, and attended Pfeiffer where I completed classes for my Special Education license. I am also certified K-6 general education.
I look forward to another school year at Central Elementary with all the new and positive changes that are taking place in Stanly County Schools. We love our Bullpups!
