Mrs. Belk 5th ELA
I look forward to the opportunity to provide an environment that will support and inspire your children to be the best that they can be this year. With this being their last year of elementary school, it is very important to solidify a strong reading foundation.
I struggled with reading in school...the struggle was real! Very real! However, my teachers and parents encouraged and supported me through the years, but I had to put in the sweat equity. I had to chose to pay attention, take notes, work hard, turn the tv off, make sacrifices, and study. I was the oldest of 17 cousins and, to my knowledge, was the first female in my family to graduate with a bachelor's degree in education.
The only place that you are going to find "success" before "work"...is in the dictionary and the required amount of "work" needed achieve "success" varies from person to person...depending on their own personal skills, disciplines, and experiences.
On a personal note, I am proud to say that this is my 20th year of teaching, I have been married over 25 years, and have raised two sons. I grew up a West Virginia coal miner's daughter and moved to North Carolina after college. I love the weather here!!!!
Last thoughts, while children are a blessing....they don't come with manuals and they are all so different! Let's work together to help your child navigate through 5th-grade successfully.
